After a botched suicide attempt, Pete wants nothing more than to be dead. Dying of cancer, 10 year old Charlie wants nothing more than to live. The two form an unlikely friendship while both are marooned in a sterile hospital. Charlie brings his imaginative fantasies into Pete’s dismal world. Pete brings his cynicism and harsh life outlook into Charlie’s hopefully hopeless life. The two realize there is a lot to learn from someone who wants to die but can’t and someone’s who has to die but doesn’t want to.
